Roads and Works
The Projects department of Gwanda Rural District Council is responsible for the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of the council’s infrastructure, including roads, bridges, and public buildings, Water and wastewater provision and Solid waste management, including waste collection, transportation, and disposal. The department is headed by the Council Engineer, who oversees a team of technicians, and other support staff.
The department’s main objectives are to:
Provide efficient and effective engineering services to the community
Ensure the safe and reliable operation of the council's infrastructure
Plan and implement new infrastructure projects to support the growth and development of the district
Ensure the provision of safe and clean water to the community
Manage solid waste in an environmentally responsible and sustainable manner
Some of the specific services provided by the engineering department include
Safe water and sanitation supply
Solid waste collection and disposal
Road maintenance and construction
Bridge maintenance and construction
Design and implementation of new infrastructure projects
